Project Description

We designed and implemented a robust Full Stack Exam Management System for Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), aimed at digitizing and centralizing the end-to-end examination lifecycle for one of Pakistan’s largest distance learning institutions. The system was built using a modern technology stack comprising React.js for the frontend, Node.js with Express for the backend, and PostgreSQL for scalable and secure data storage. Designed to handle massive volumes of student data across diverse regions, the platform supports dynamic form generation, secure login for multiple user roles, exam scheduling, digital roll number slips, center allocation, invigilation management, and result processing. Key features include real-time dashboards for administrators, automated seating plans, secure question paper handling, and a powerful permissions system to control access for regional directors, examination staff, and university controllers. The system is also optimized for multilingual support and mobile responsiveness to accommodate AIOU's geographically distributed user base. In addition to improving the efficiency and accuracy of exam operations, our system drastically reduced administrative overhead, minimized errors in exam center allocations, and enabled the university to manage high-stakes exams with better transparency, scalability, and reliability.
